Elections are not just about political parties: they are about the candidates and the personal attributes that they bring to their community.

Helen Garten offers a wealth of qualities to Westport: wisdom to understand the complex issues before us, patience to hear the facts, inclusiveness in hearing all opinions as to the facts, integrity in assessing an issue completely and balanced judgment in finding the best direction forward.

Westport is at a critical juncture. We continue to endure divisive issues, with difficult choices remaining. To find the right solutions, we need a community dialogue.

Helen Garten has demonstrated time and again that she possesses the inclusive approach to lead us to those solutions.

As an independent voter who has refrained from making political statements, I am inspired by Helen to make my voice heard. I have tired of the cliques that expect to impose their mandates without considering the totality of facts and circumstances and the diverse opinions of our community. Helen offers our community a resume that reveals unmatched intelligence, a track record of integrity and avoidance of conflicts of interest and a history of results that demonstrates a willingness to embrace all of Westport.

As an independent, I look forward to the opportunity to be in a position to be truly represented as I prepare to cast my vote for Helen Garten. I encourage all other independents to do the same and cast a vote for all of Westport by supporting Helen.
