The next lecture in the “First Friday” series at St. Luke Church will be Friday on the topic, “Reading Genesis.”

The program, free and open to the public, starts with a wine and cheese reception at 7 p.m. at the church, 49 Turkey Hill Road North, followed at 7:30 p.m. by the talk.

The speaker will be Christopher Kelly, an associate professor of religious studies at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield.

Kelly has BA and MA degrees in religious studies from the University of South Florida and a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. His general expertise is historical theology and church history, according to publicity for the program. In the fall, he will become the new chairman of SHU’s Department of Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies.
