Lawyers to give estate talk at senior center

The Westport Center for Senior Activities will host a talk by lawyers Shelby L. Wilson and Joshua A. Weinshank on "The State of Your Estate" at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the center, 21 Imperial Ave.

Topics will include lifetime planning documents such as durable and springing powers of attorney, health care instructions and appointment of a health care representative, living will and authorization for release of protected health care representative.

Planning for disposition of assets during lifetime and at death including last will and testament, revocable "living" trust, lifetime gifts, other irrevocable trust arrangements and charitable giving will also be discussed.

In conclusion, five keys to effective estate planning will be reviewed, followed by a question-and-answer period, according to a release.

Wilson, from Berchem, Moses & Devlin, P.C., has experience representing individuals, fiduciaries and exempt organizations on a wide range of matters before Connecticut probate courts.

Joshua A. Weinshank, also from Berchem, Moses & Devlin, has experience in estate and gift planning and estate and trust administration, the release states.

Coffee will be served at 10:00 a.m.

Admission to the talk, which will include coffee at 10 a.m., is free but pre-registration is required.
