The Westport Woman's Club presented its 2015 Most Active Member Award to Karen Center at the group's May Club Day luncheon.

The award, the club says, "honors exceptional volunteer service to the WWC and its charitable and social philanthropic initiatives." One of the club's need-based college scholarships to a graduating Staples High School senior is to be presented in Center's name this year and both names will then be added to the WWC Honor Roll plaque.

Center's contributions to the WWC's work over the past 18 years include chairing the Food Closet in partnership with Westport Human Services, serving on the Scholarship Committee, the Garden Department board, the Nominating Committee, the Ruegg Grant Committee and Warm-up Fund Mailing Committee. She also has served as Yankee Doodle Fair co-chairwoman, assisted with Health Department clinics, the Blues, Views and Barbeque fundraiser, Necessities bags, tag sales and other WWC fundraisers.

In the press release announcing the award, Center said, "As I thought about all the things I was involved with at the club, I realize how fortunate I was to have found this group. They are special ladies who have made a great difference in my life and for that I will be forever grateful."

Dorothy Curran, the WWC president, thanked Center for her "long, continuous and exemplary service" to the club and its many community projects.
