While older bicyclists are pedaling along roadways July 30, kids can do their part for cancer survivors by riding on a short, grass course in the CT Junior Challenge.

The Junior Challenge is suitable for children ages 5 to 10, organizers said. A safe course will be laid out on grass at the Farifield County Hunt Club in Westport, organizers said, and will include what they called "a few fun challenges along the way."

Participants must have a bicycle that can be ridden on grass, and bike helmets are mandatory. Tricycles and bikes with training wheels are prohibited.

The ride is from 9 to 11 a.m., and riders may start and finish whenever they like. Participants will get stickers for their helmets with each lap completed.

Registration fee is $20, and the event is limited to the first 100 riders to register. There is no minimum fundraising requirement.
