A rollover crash on South Compo Road early Friday sent a man to the hospital.

The accident took place about 3 a.m. when a Jeep Grand Cherokee veered off the road near 302 South Compo Road and crashed into a Jeep Wrangler parked on the side of the road, according to fire officials. The impact of the collision caused the Cherokee to roll over onto its roof.

The driver of the Cherokee, who was not identified, remained trapped upside down by his seat belt in the vehicle. He was removed by fire and EMS personnel, placed on a backboard and stretcher, and then transported to Norwalk Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, fire officials said.

Both Jeeps had to be hauled from the scene by two Riverside Sunoco flatbed wreckers.

Police are investigating the accident.
