Another new restaurant is hoping to open in the National Hall riverfront landmark on the west side of the Saugatuck River.

Spasso, an Italian restaurant, is planning to occupy 2-8 Post Road West. Coe Consulting, the project-management firm for the National Hall complex that is bordered to the west by Wilton Road, was scheduled to present plans for the business at Thursday night's meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission on Thursday.

Spasso would follow in the footsteps of Bartaco, a Mexican restaurant which opened recently at 20 Wilton Road, and Moja Cafe, a restaurant featuring Japanese and South American cuisine, which opened last year at 12 Wilton Road.

Plans for Spasso include a 1476-square-foot dining area, 914 square foot bar area, and a 478-square-foot outdoor patio.

Twenty Wilton Road belongs to a group of buildings on the west bank of the Saugatuck River owned by the Norwalk-based commercial real estate firm Greenfield Partners.

National Hall, a red-brick Italianate building at 2-8 Post Road West, anchors the complex. In June 2012, Greenfield Partners secured approval from the Planning and Zoning Commission to redevelop National Hall into an office center to serve as the new Greenfield corporate headquarters.
