WESTPORT — A crash involving an SUV and a tow truck early this morning on I-95 northbound in Westport closed all three travel lanes for more than an hour.

The highway reopened at 3:17 a.m. officials said. Neither driver required extrication but there were injuries, said Assistant Fire Chief Brian Meadows. The SUV sustained heavy damage, he said.

The accident occurred at 1:49 a.m. between exits 18 and 19. Firefighters from Fairfield assisted at the scene and State Police investigated the crash and managed the traffic.

“Firefighters from Westport and Fairfield worked to secure the vehicles in place and treated both drivers for injuries until EMS arrived,’’ Meadows said.
