WESTPORT — Last week’s competition at the Westport Farmers’ Market required just one simple ingredient—potatoes—but a collection of creative home cooks made a mélange of unique dishes around them.

“There are some great creations that come out of home kitchens,” said Lori Cochran-Dougall, executive director of the market.

Potatoes used needed to have been purchased at the market the previous week, but entrants put a wide range of twists on the vegetable—from soup to curry to waffle.

“It’s fun and it brings people together,” Cochran-Dougall said.
