Five individuals from Westport and Weston won awards at the Fairfield Museum and History Center's "Images 2012" photography contest.

Winners and their respective works in the professional/serious amateur category include Westport residents D. Goldstein, "Thermal Abstraction"; J. Kahn Zwyer, "Museum of Modern Art, NYC"; Robin Fellows, "Father & Son" and Sara Roche of Weston, "Light Show."

Alexandra Greene of Westport won an award in the student category for "Volcanic Ash."

The winners will display their works during the exhibition, which will be on display May 4 to July 22. One professional/serious amateur winner and one student winner will be chosen as grand prize winners. The professional/serious amateur winner will be given a 10-day exhibition at Southport Galleries at a later date. The student grand prize winner will receive a professional portfolio review with photographers Bill Eppridge and Adrienne Aurichio.

A panel of six judges selected 50 contest winners from more than 800 entries. Judges included Bill Eppridge, a photojournalist; Adrienne Aurichio, president of Bill Eppridge Photography and a photo editor; Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer John Paul Filo; and James Estrin, founder and co-editor of Lens, the New York Times' photography blog. Other judges will be photo editor Jody Potter and Anne Cahill, professional markets director at Adorama.

The exhibit will also showcase a retrospective of the work of Charles Ruger, a Fairfield native who lives and works in New York City. Ruger will also introduce new pieces at the exhibit.
