Westport Public Library will host a talk by Westport illustrator and author Tracy Sugarman, a participant in the civil rights movement in Mississippi in the 1960s, on Dec. 15, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the library's McManus Room, 20 Jesup Road.

Sugarman will discuss his first novel, "Nobody Said Amen," the story of two families, one white and one black, and how they navigate the challenges of social change in the Mississippi Delta.

Books will be available for signing and purchase at the event, which is free.
