äBreast cancer speaker: Bethel Visiting Nurse Association is sponsoring a talk on the importance of early detection of breast cancer and having regular screening mammograms, today today, 10:30 a.m., Bethel Senior Center, 1 School St., Bethel. For information, call (203) 792-0864.

äMultiple Sclerosis speaker: Margaret Andrews, program and services director of the Connecticut Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, will speak at the monthly support group meeting for caregivers on Wednesday, Main Street Rehabilitation Center, 235 Main St., Danbury.

äSalon to host ALS awareness event: 18th Annual Dawn's Pizzazz Awareness Event to Benefit ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), a 2.5-to-3-mile walk, Oct. 19, City Center Green from 9:30 to 11 a.m. It will honor the late Bob Labbance, uncle of Dawn Blom, owner of the salon. äRidgefield Visiting Nurse Association Travel Clinic and Immunizations: offers travel consultations and immunizations for those 18 and older by appointment. Call (203) 438-5555.

äFlu vaccination clinics: are being held throughout the region by area visiting nurse associations. Check with your local agency. Doctors will also offer flu vaccines in their offices and flu vaccination clinics will be conducted in commercial spaces such as supermarkets and malls. Check with provider about cost and insurance.
