Harvest rolling in: Preserve the bounty by canning it

Wakeman Town Farm will offer a free program on canning fresh fruits and vegetables Saturday.
The program is planned from 10 a.m. to noon at the farm, 134 Cross Highway, and is open to all ages.
Instructor Carrie Aitkenhead will cover the basics of canning, and participants can make jam, tomato sauce and salsa.
The program includes tastings, and participants can take home a jar of their choice.
The program is recommended for gardeners who want to preserve some of their harvests.
The cost is $25, and reservations are required.
