WESTPORT—A Hartford man driving without an operator’s license or car insurance was caught speeding on the Sherwood Island Connector Dec. 4, police said.
Officers conducting a speed check on the Connector clocked Luis Garcia-Perez, 30, traveling 62 mph in a 40-mph zone. Police stopped Garcia-Perez and investigated his car, at which point officers discovered he was driving without a license, lacked car insurance, and had a car registration plate belonging to a different vehicle.
Garcia-Perez was charged with misuse of marker plate, speeding, failure of insurance coverage to meet minimum requirements, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle without a license. Garcia-Perez was released after posting a $500 cash bond ahead of a Dec. 14 scheduled appearance in Norwalk Superior Court.
