STAMFORD -- Senior Kate Flewelling finished second in the all-around with a score of 34.300 to lead Trumbull to third place at the FCIAC gymnastics championships Friday at Westhill.
Flewelling recorded a second-place finish on the vault with a score of 9.10 during her performance.
"It was a great performance by our team," Trumbull coach Cara Loux said. "Our team had a lot of energy, which is key in the sport of gymnastics. Kate always has a positive attitude out there. She has done a great job for us in her first year on the team."
Darien won the title for the second time in three years with a score of 135.850, while Wilton placed second (131.300).
Fairfield Ludlowe (126.350) was fourth followed by Staples (122.700), Greenwich (121.550), Fairfield Warde (104.600) and Westhill (92.500).
Junior Morgan Whitehead led the way for the Blue Wave, winning the vault with a score of 9.20 and taking home the floor exercise title (9.175). She finished third in the all-around with a score of 34.275.
Wilton was led by sophomore Chelsea Levander, who won both the bars (9.300) and beam (8.900). She was also the all-around winner, compiling 36.150 points.
