Westport-based Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will host its annual fundraising benefit, the "Gourmet Gathering," on Friday evening, April 29.

The event begins at

6: 30 p.m. at Le Chateau in South Salem, N.Y.

Theme for this year's gala is "Hooray for Hollywood," and actress, singer and dancer Jane Powell is honorary chair.

Known for her soprano voice, dancing and acting talent, Powell gained fame for starring roles in MGM musicals of the 1950s. A local area resident, she starred in films such as "A Date with Judy," "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" and "Royal Wedding."

Powell starred in numerous other feature films and performed on television and in theatre.

Le Château, a historic mansion, is known for its French cuisine and views of the Hudson River Valley.

The event will feature a gourmet meal, wines and entertainment.

Attendees may also bid on items in both live and silent auctions.

Weston-based jazz musician Chris Coogan will perform.

Proceeds from the Gourmet Gathering will directly benefit the patients of Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County.
