In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Coleytown Middle School students and staff over the last four decades have gathered the day before the holiday to present donations of food and funds to area nonprofit organizations during the annual Giving Assembly.

This year, the Coleytown community collected for donation more than 2,000 food items, seven boxes of school supplies and hygiene kits, and more than $4,352.

CMS student representatives presented their gifts to representatives from six organizations: Homes with Hope, Saugatuck Congregational Church, the town's Department of Human Services, Operation Hope in Fairfield and the Connecticut Quest for Peace and the Make-A-Wish Foundation

In addition to the presentations, CMS instrumental and vocal music groups provided music and entertainment at the assembly.
