WESTPORT — Make mine messy!

Paints, chalk and creative energy met outside Monday afternoon at The Westport Library’s Outdoor Messy Crafts event on Jesup Green.

“It’s our quasi-annual event,” said Mary Beth Goodwin, children’s librarian. “It started because we had paints left over from something and we have carpets up there, so we thought we’d try it out here.”

A couple dozen kids were glad and grateful to get their hands on a selection of sparkles, brushes and art supplies, along with a lot of bubbles blowing through the air.

“What’s hot weather without bubbles,” said “Miss Lynne” Perrigo, children’s librarian.
