NEWTOWN -- Anyone who would like to watch some squash speed across a parking lot should show up at the Lions Club's fourth annual Great Pumpkin Race on Oct. 19.

The Lions Club will be selling premade racers for $15, but why not make your own?

You can decorate it anyway you'd like. The only requirement for the competing vegetables is they must be on four wheels and cannot be on skates or a skateboard.

The race will be behind Edmond Town Hall at 45 Main St. Festivities will go from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will also include a pumpkin decorating competition, pumpkin bowling and bobbing for apples.

For the decorating competition, the funniest, scariest and best decorated pumpkins will be awarded prizes.

People are encouraged to enter both the decoration contest and the races. There's a $5 fee for each, but there are no other costs.

Spectators are welcome and there will be free cider and doughnuts.
