George E. Allis

Born July 14, 1923, in Meriden, he was the son of the late Eugene and Constance (Perros) Allis. He graduated from Meriden High School and received a bachelor of science degree in commerce and journalism from Rider University.
He was self-employed in the field of corporate finance and leasing after serving in the Army during World War II. His memberships included the Grace United Methodist Church in Hummelstown, Meriden Lodge, the UConn Club and the Purple Heart Club. He had been a strong supporter of the University of Connecticut, and served on its athletic board.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, M. Gail Tunnell and her husband Daniel of Hummelstown; two grandsons, Scott N. Tunnell and wife Kristy, and Matthew A. Tunnell and wife Colleen, all of Hummelstown; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Beth Garcia of Madison, and five nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Andrew Allis.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 31, in Grace United Methodist Church, 433 East Main St., Hummelstown. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
