A regional mental-health organization will sponsor free screenings Thursday at the Westport-Weston Health District offices.

The screenings at the 180 Bayberry Lane offices will take place from 4 to 7 p.m., and are for indivuals who want to discuss their own mental health or who have a relative or friend they believe may need help, sponsors said.

Appointments are not necessary.

The program is sponsored by the Southwest Regional Mental Health Board, which is conducting similar screenings across Fairfield County this month. The Westport screenings will be conducted by a clinical social worker who will speak with participants, according to the board.
