Picture This/Nylen Gallery, the Post Road framing shop and gallery, is moving to a new location on the same road that its owner says will give the business greater visibility.

The shop plans to close its doors at 606 Post Road East at the end of the day on Saturday, Nov. 15, and open four days later two-tenths of a mile away at 772 Post Road East, near Hillspoint Road.

The new site formerly housed Great Cakes, the bake shop that closed its doors in January.

The gallery's new location is slightly smaller than its current spot -- 1,800 square feet compared to 2,000 -- but owner Wendy Nylen said the storefront has more visibility along the busy retail strip and a long-term lease was available.

In the new shop, Picture This/Nylen Gallery will introduce a new, online gallery to supplement the fine art and jewelry on display in the shop, Nylen said. The shop also does custom framing in-house, offering more than 1,000 moldings.

Its four-member workforce will not change, Nylen said.

The shop has been in its current location since 1992. Nylen, who said she has a degree in art history from Harvard University, bought the business in 2007.

The shop will reopen in the new location at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, Nylen said.
