The former site of the Remarkable Book Shop, a popular pink store at 177 Main St. from the early 1960s to the early 1990s, has changed hands for $4.2 million.

The 3,871-square-foot building was sold Dec. 27 by 177 Main St. Assoc. LLC to 177 Main LLC, of Tempe, Ariz., according to property transfer records from the Westport Town Clerk's office.

The building was sold by the Kramer family of Westport, doing business as 177 Main St. Assoc. LLC.

Esther Kramer, wife of Sidney Kramer of Westport who died in April 2011, was the bookstore's owner and founder.

The building has been vacant since last spring, said Dominick Musilli, executive vice president of RHYS, a commercial real estate firm representing the property owner. It has been for sale since last summer, he said.

A Talbots women's clothing store was the most recent tenant. It occupied 2,500 square feet on the first floor and about 800 square feet on the second, Musilli said.

Talbots, which also ran both a men's clothing shop and a children's clothing store in downtown Westport until 2008, moved the women's clothing shop to a nearby space at 165 Main St.,
