WESTPORT — Folk singer John Gorka will perform Saturday at Voices Cafe of the Unitarian Church in Westport.

The performance, marking Gorka’s 12th studio album, “Bright Side of Down,” starts at 8 p.m. at the cafe, 10 Lyons Plains Road. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

The album, Gorka’s first in more than four years, features the “sound and lyrical insight that have earned him generations of devoted fans and a career that’s found him gracing the stages of PBS’ Austin City Limits, NPR’s Mountain Stage, venues nationwide and throughout Europe,” according to publicity for the event.

"I think my experience living in Minnesota has brought a certain perspective to this record,” Gorka said in the press statement. “You'll find it in the images, but also in the idea that in spite of bitter cold and wind, people find ways to hold each other up and keep going."
