Born April 3, 1931, in Elmira, N.Y., she graduated from Stephen College. She was interested in the arts, was a seamstress and quilter and wove lightship baskets. Several of her baskets are in the Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother, Charles L. Stevens 3rd and his wife Margaret of Tampa, Fla.; three sons, Philip and wife Denise of Redding, Steven and wife Karin of Bethel and Stuart and wife Tracy of Newtown; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service had been planned Tuesday, Sept. 13, in Nantucket.
