WESTPORT — A Fairfield man was charged with driving under the influence after he allegedly ran a stop sign on Long Lots Road Dec. 8.

An officer saw Wolfgang Pfleghar driving quickly down the road and pass a stop sign without slowing down around 8 p.m., according to police. Police said officers could smell alcohol coming from the car when they stopped the 53-year-old and saw signs he was intoxicated.

After failing a field sobriety test, Pfleghar was charged with operating under the influence and failure to obey a stop sign. His bail was set at $1,500 ahead of a Dec. 15 court date.
