FAIRIFELD — Fairfield Preparatory School Principal Robert Perrotta will retire at the end of the academic year after almost half a century as a teacher and administrator, the school announced on Tuesday.

Perrotta began at Fairfield Prep in 1969 as a Spanish teacher. He also served as academic dean before being named principal in 1997.

“Dr. Perrotta leaves a lasting legacy both on our 75-year tradition and within the Jesuit Schools Network,” said Fairfield Prep President Rev. Tom Simisky. “He has been a generous mentor to many, and I personally feel grateful for his wonderful guidance over these years. Dr. Perrotta’s work ethic and professionalism as a classroom teacher and administrator are unsurpassed.”

A search committee has begun to look for a new principal.
