In an article previously published on March 15, 2006, entitled "Man crashed car, tried to flee scene," The News-Times indicated that Acyr Penna caused an accident, attempted to flee the scene and was driving under the influence. As indicated in the short story below, Mr. Penna did not cause the accident and was in fact the driver of the vehicle who was struck.

DANBURY - A William Street man was charged with drunken driving after a two-car accident at North and Thorpe streets.

Police said Hugo Vasquez, 20, was driving a pickup truck that pulled out of Thorpe Street just before 10:30 p.m. on Monday, March 13, and struck a car driven by Acyr Penna, 27, of Oakland Avenue Extension.

Police said Vasquez proceeded west on North Street, and that Penna pulled in front of Vasquez's pickup truck to try and stop him. Vasquez rammed the rear of Penna's car and kept driving onto Downs Street.

Penna followed and called police. They stopped Vasquez on Farview Avenue and charged him with drunken driving, evading responsibility and driving without a license.
