A protocol and etiquette expert will discuss her new book, "In Saving Civility: 52 Ways to Tame Rude, Crude, & Attitude for a Polite Planet" at noon Thursday, Sept. 15, in the McManus Room of Westport Public Library, 20 Jesup Road.

In the book, Sara Hacala examines how polite behavior is not only pleasant, but critical to problem-solving. Incorporating research of social psychologists and scientists on human behavior, she posits that civility is a mindset that encompasses values and attitudes and treating people with respect benefits relationships and the world at large.

Hacala, president of Sara Hacala & Associates LLC, is a certified business etiquette and protocol trainer and civility lecturer. She also works in high schools with at-risk students, teaching vital interpersonal skills to help them increase their opportunities for success.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing after Hacala's talk, which is free and open to the public.
