Music by the late artist Eric von Schmidt, whose artwork is on display at the Westport Library, will be performed by a trio of family and friends Sunday, June 9, in the library's McManus Room. The 2 p.m. concert will feature von Schmidt's daughter Caitlin on vocals, Chance Browne on guitar and vocals, and Mark Naftalin on keyboard. The event is free.
Caitlin von Schmidt is a graphic artist and folk singer. Moving back to Westport with her husband in 2004, she cared for her father until his death in 2007.
Wilton native Chance Browne has performed nationally since the 1960s, accompanying other performers such as Jim Rooney, Albert Collins, James Cotton and B.B. King, as well as long-time friend Eric von Schmidt.
Blues musician, composer and producer Mark Naftalin played keyboards with the original Paul Butterfield Blues Band and has recorded with blues artists who include John Lee Hooker, Otis Rush, Percy Mayfield, James Cotton, Michael Bloomfield, Lowell Fulson, and Big Joe Turner.
