An 85-year-old man with diminished mental capacity, reported missing from his Westport home Wednesday morning, has been found in New York City, police said Thursday.

Robert Brannigan, whose whereabouts was unknown since leaving his Loretta Court home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, was located unharmed in New York City and brought back home Wednesday night, police said.

When the missing-person alert was issued earlier Wednesday, police said Brannigan was believed to be confused and disoriented.

He did not require any medical attention when he was found, police said.

He had left his residence driving a 2006 Gray Saab, according to the initial alert.
