Edward L. Johnson

Edward L. Johnson, 84, of Weston, the husband of Jeri Kelley Johnson, died Aug. 13 at home.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on March 14, 1926, he was the son of the late Malcolm B. and Virginia (Rogers) Johnson and was a resident of Weston for the past 33 years.
Prior to retiring, Johnson was employed as a banker with Union Commerce.
After graduating from Staunton Military Academy in 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served as a gunner's mate third-class. Following World War II, he attended Babson College.
He liked to travel the globe and cruising, as well as gardening and his dogs.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Susan Johnson of North Conway, N.H.; Virginia H. Johnson of Sarasota, Fla., and Kathy Ritsema Alan of Osprey, Fla.; a sister, Jane Tuck of Old Greenwich; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a nephew.
A funeral service took place Aug. 17 in Christ and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Westport, with Rev. John H. Branson III officiating. Burial with military honors followed in Willowbrook Cemetery. The Harding Funeral Home in Westport assisted with arrangements.
