ERNEST R. VADAS
Ernest R. Vadas, 79, of Norwalk, the husband of the late Romayne Kudey Vadas, died March 6, 2010.
Born in Southport, he was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, class of 1949. He was a long-time Norwalk resident.
Prior to his retirement, Vadas was employed as a liquor salesman in Fairfield County for Johnny Barton Distributors. He was also employed in his early years as a mail carrier in the Southport Post Office.
Vadas loved to travel with his wife Romayne. He loved baseball, especially watching the New York Mets, and he loved listening to country music.
A man with a wonderful sense of humor, he was well loved and enjoyed seeing his great nieces and nephews. A one word description of Vadas; he was "dignified."
In the last two years, Vadas made many new friends, who became like a second family to him, while living at the Atria in Darien.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Vadas of Fairfield; his brother-in-law, Edmund Kudey Sr. and his wife, Eleanore of Stratford; four nephews, Eric Kudey and his wife, Courtney of Trumbull, Edmund A. Kudey Jr. and his wife, Kristine of Danville, Calif., and Paul and Peter Vadas, both of Fairfield; and eight great-nieces and nephews. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road, Fairfield. Friends are invited to call from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will take place at St. Thomas Mausoleum.
