John Hein, 45, of High Gate Road, was charged early Sunday with driving under the influence.
An officer saw Hein driving south on North Avenue, weaving to the left and right, crossing over the road's yellow and white traffic lines, police said.
Once Hein was stopped, the officer smelled a "distinct and pronounced" odor of alcohol on Hein's breath, police said. His eyes were red and glassy, police said. He also failed field sobriety tests, according to police.
Hein was charged with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol, failure to drive in the proper lane and failure to carry a license. He was released on a $360 cash bond and is scheduled to appear Dec. 13 in Norwalk Superior Court.
