One person was hospitalized Thursday morning after a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 95 in Westport, which tied up southbound traffic for nearly an hour.

The crash took place about 10 a.m. near southbound Exit 18, shutting down one lane of the highway as Westport firefighters, EMS crews and State Police were dispatched to the scene and established a safety zone around the accident scene.

The driver of one of the cars complained of neck and back injuries, and was transported to Bridgeport Hospital.

Firefighters then applied absorbents to the road surface because fluids were leaking from the radiator of one of the damaged vehicles.

The last fire unit left the scene about 10:50 a.m.
