Chad Whited, 29, of Owenoke Parkway, was charged with driving under the influence last week.
Whited was seen making a right turn on red on Riverside Avenue, where there is a "no turn on red" sign posted, last Thursday, police said. After Whited was stopped, an officer reported smelling "a strong odor" of alcohol on Whited's breath. When he got out of his vehicle, he was unsteady on his feet, police said. Whited also failed field sobriety tests, police added.
Whited was charged with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol, failure to obey a control signal and following too closely. He was released on $500 bond and is scheduled to appear Oct. 29 in Norwalk Superior Court.
