After police stopped Christian Figueroa for driving through a flashing red traffic light without stopping Friday night, he was charged with driving under the influence.

Figueroa, 48, of Barrack Hill Road, Ridgefield, was stopped by police on Saugatuck Avenue, and as he was questioned, they said a strong odor of alcohol was detected on his breath. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, but refused to take a breath test, police said.

Charged with operating under the influence, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, insufficient insurance and failure to obey a control signal, Figueroa's bond was set at $500. He is scheduled to appear Jan. 10 in Norwalk Superior Court.
