Frederick Macarthur, 69, of Norwalk, was charged with DUI Saturday at approximately 3:30 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road at the intersection of Post Road West and Sylvan Road North. The vehicle was reportedly stopped with its lights off in the middle of the far right lane of Post Road West.

Police said Macarthur was then removed from the vehicle, and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. He failed subsequent field sobriety tests, police said.

Macarthur was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and released on $500 bond. He is scheduled to appear Aug. 15 in Norwalk Superior Court.
