Westport Public Library will hold a talk by author Julie Klam on her memoir, "Love at First Bark: How Saving a Dog Can Sometimes Help You Save Yourself," 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, in the library's McManus Room, 20 Jesup Road.

The book, named a "Top Ten Memoir of Fall" by Publisher's Weekly, focuses on dog rescue and its healing power for dogs who find good homes and people who bond with them.

Klam became involved with rescue after years as an owner of purebred dogs.

The talk is free. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
