Danbury's Simalchik fourth at nationals

Simalchik took fourth place out of 36 finishers in the javelin with a best throw of 197 feet, 4 inches. Neal Huynh of Altoona, Pa., won the event at 204-6.

Danbury's Robert Guider finished ninth in the hammer throw at 173-1. Michael Gama, of Wakefield, R.I., won at 204-1.

In the boys 4x800 relay Danbury's elite team of Willie Ahearn, Parker Boudreau, Danny Bubniak and Doug Ronan took 11th place with a time of 7:49.28. A total of 24 relay teams finished the race with the winning time of 7:37.99 turned in by the Motor City Track Club.

Immaculate's Moria Kenny placed 10th in the girls' "emerging elite" one-mile, clocking in at 5:15.54. Megan Goethals, of Rochester, Mi, placed first in 4:59.26.

The meet concludes with a full schedule of events today.
