Thousands of people in the area looking to get a jump on holiday shopping flocked to Staples High School Saturday morning for the opening day of the Westport Young Woman’s League’s annual Craft Westport shopping event.

One of the organization’s major yearly fundraisers, the event offers something for everyone. A mini marketplace shared many handcrafted items made by very local vendors. A food area offered tastes of tomato sauce, brittle candy, granola, chocolates and more. Baked goods were set out along a table calling to fans of gooey treats. And, in a much larger gymnasium space, row upon row of artisan vendors showed jewelry, hats, artwork, glass figurines, garden décor, apparel, wood & metal items and lots more.
