UPDATE: According to the state's attorney, the case against Carol Hauser was dismissed.
A woman has been charged with breach of peace over what police said was a profanity-laced tirade over dogs at Compo Beach last September.
Carol Hauser, 63, who gave a Greenwich post office box number as her address, turned herself in to police Wednesday night and was charged with one count of breach of peace: threatening, and one count of breach of peace: non-threatening.
The arrest stems from an incident at Compo Beach where Hauser "went on a profanity-laced tirade regarding dogs being on the beach," according to the police report.
Hauser confronted two adults and six children all under the age of 8, police said.
Under town regulations, dogs are allowed at Compo Beach only from Oct. 1 through March 30 and must be on a leash except the designated off-leash areas of the park.
Hauser was released after posting a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear Dec. 6 in Norwalk Superior Court.
