A young woman suspected of burglarizing a Sniffen Road home Friday evening and fleeing the scene in a taxi cab, was caught several hours later in Bridgeport, police said.
The suspect -- later identified as 21-year-old Teresa C. Dalessio of Norwalk -- was spotted by witnesses leaving the house about 5:45 p.m., carrying several suitcases.
The witnesses told police officers dispatched to the scene that the suspect was a slim woman about 5 feet, 2 inches tall, with blonde hair and wearing a blue sweatshirt.
After a brief investigation, police learned that Dalessio had left Westport in a cab and headed to Bridgeport. By 9 p.m., police said, Dalessio was located and items reported stolen from the home were found in her possession.
She was charged with burglary third-degree, larceny third-degree and criminal violation of a protective order.
Dalessio was held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear March 7 in Norwalk Superior Court.
