Trusha Patel, 22, of Ridgefield, was charged Saturday with possession of a controlled substance.

Patel was seen texting on her cell phone while driving, police said. After she was stopped, an officer smelled an odor of marijuana in the vehicle while speaking with Patel, according to the report. When asked if there was any marijuana in the vehicle, Patel produced two zip-lock type sandwich bags holding a green leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana, police said.

Patel was charged with possession of a controlled substance and released on $500 bond. She is scheduled to appear Feb. 28 in Norwalk Superior Court.
