A Norwalk man was charged after a Sunday night disturbance at his girlfriend's Westport home, where police said he forced open the door and smashed possessions.
James Olivia, 51, of Delaware Avenue, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
Officers dispatched about 11 p.m. Sunday to investigate a domestic disturbance on Franklin Street noticed that items in the house had been knocked over and the front door was damaged, according to a police report.
During the investigation, Olivia had forced open the front door, which was locked, and while inside, threw objects around, the report states.
Olivia fled the scene before police arrived, but was found at his residence in Norwalk by that city's officers, who took him into custody.
Olivia was unable to post his $10,000 bond, police said, and was scheduled to appear the next day at Superior Court in Norwalk.
