A motorist who struck and damaged two stone walls on Partrick Lane -- and then fled the scene -- Wednesday has been charged with leaving the scene of the crash.

Gerard Gaspel, 59, of Partrick Lane, was charged with evading responsibility.

Police set to check on the report of a one-car accident about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday were told the driver of the vehicle that hit the stone walls and caused damage had left the scene, according to a police report.

Witnesses were able to provide information about the vehicle and the direction it was traveling. The vehicle, located in the driveway of a home up the street, suffered heavy damage, the report said.

Gaspel posted a $500 bond and was scheduled to appear April 16 at state Superior Court in Norwalk.
