Concert to honor Westport civil rights activist

A concert to honor the late Manny Margolis, a Westport civil rights activist, will be performed Saturday, May 31.

The 8 p.m. concert at Long Wharf Theater in New Haven, will benefit the American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut.

Suzanne Sheridan of Westport and her band will be performing the music of Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen at the concert.

Margolis, a lawyer who died in 2011, was known for his activism in civil liberties and for his support of gay marriage. He was a partner in the Stamford law firm, Wofsey, Rosen, Kweskin and Kuriansky, LLP, and taught law courses at Quinnipiac University School of Law. From 1989 to 1995, Margolis was the chairman of the ACLU of Connecticut.
