Three Westport residents have been named to the dean’s list at the University of New Hampshire in Durham for the spring semester. Margaret Mills, Sarah Mahoney and Alexander Frawley received high honors for earning a semester grade-point average between 3.65 and 3.84.

Diana Zogheb, of Westport, was named to the Marist College dean’s list for the spring semester. Zogheb is a member of the class of 2020 and is majoring in psychology and special education.

On July 13, the American Job Center Southwest’s Career Coach will offer a beginner’s class in recently upgraded Word 2013 from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by an intermediate class in Word 2013 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Both classes will be offered in the “training center” tour bus stationed at Westport Town Hall.

The mobile unit operates on a monthly schedule of visits to various community locations and is accessible to people with disabilities.

Westport Writers’ Workshop is bringing back the literary salon.

In keeping with its mission to tout the written word, the group is hosting a special reading and celebration at 6:30 p.m. Friday, featuring New Yorker poet Charles Rafferty & Friends. Other participants include instructor and editor-in-chief of Brain, Child magazine, Marcelle Soviero, and Huffington Post contributor Amy Challenger.

The event is free and will take place at 323 Bar & Restaurant, at 323 Main St., Westport. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

During commencement ceremonies May 22, Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., conferred four bachelor’s degrees and one master’s degree on Westport natives.

Alexander Addessi graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business and economics with a major in accounting; Connor Fulbright graduated with a master’s degree in engineering with a major in mechanical engineering; Guerric Vornle von Haagenfels graduated with a bachelor’s degree in earth and environmental science; H. Jared Levi graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business and economics with a major in finance; and Jason Kozel graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business and economics with a major in marketing.

Paul Bowlin, of Westport, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in management from Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Fellow Westport resident Taylor Hawes graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design communications, and Bryan Terzian, of Westport, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

The Commission for Senior Services will host its 22nd annual meeting at 10 a.m. on July 21 at the Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Ave.

The agenda will highlight the projects of the commission and the town that affect seniors.

First Selectman Jim Marpe will present the Service to Older Adults award to the Friends of the Center for Senior Activities.” Light refreshments will be served.
