"Classical Composers Through the Epochs" is the theme of a concert today (Sunday, March 8) at the Westport Library.

The free performance by violinist David Podles and pianist Irina Kupchik will take place at 2 p.m. in the library's McManus Room.

The program pays tribute to classical music by composers through the ages.

Podles, from Riga, Latvia, is laureate of three international competitions and received a Ph.D. from the Riga Conservatory. He has performed in symphony, chamber, opera and ballet theater orchestras both solo, in orchestra and on tour across Russia, Europe and the U.S. In America, he has performed at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the 92nd Street Y and Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center in New York City.

Kupchik, who began playing piano at age 6, also earned a Ph.D .in music from the Riga Conservatory. She has been on tour with Podles as his accompanist throughout Europe and New York City.
