A Trumbull woman has been charged with stealing checks for an elderly Westport woman who she had been hired to care for.

Shasha Garcia, 22, was taken into custody on a warrant Tuesday by Bridgeport police and turned over to Westport police, who were seeking her arrest for stealing four checks from the Westport woman and then forging her signature on them in May, according to the report.

Garcia was charged with sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit second-degree forgery.

She was released after posting a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear on the charges Sept. 21 at Norwalk Superior Court.
